This week in Kakapo we will be taking about Catherine McAuley she was born in Ireland on 29 of September 1778. She built a house on Bogget Street in 1827.  She helped woman get jobs and Catherine McAuley help poor people and also she showed kids on the street how to sew. The rich people offered her money. 

Catherine McAuely used her inheritance from an Irish couple she had served for twenty years ago. When she was just 5 her father passed away and when she was in teen's her mother died.

Catherine McAuely inherited a considerable fortune and chose to  used it to built a house where she and other compassionate women could take in homeless women and children to provide care and education for them. Catherine McAuely died in 1841.
